EU and Polish Institutions and Law
The scope of the research focuses on EU and Polish institutional and legal system frameworks and their interdependence. The consequences of such a correlation are the necessity of adjusting the Polish decision-making system, the coordination of European politics and the conducting of an analysis of changes introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon concerning the new competencies of EU institutions, the manner in which decisions are made and the new EU posts. A vision of further EU development is subjected to examination along with the current factors and interests that drive the European politics of particular member states.
The Institute’s research leads to a demonstration of the real benefits and consequences that follow European integration in political, social and economic areas. Also, the conducted research provides recommendations based on a realistic approach to the matter and implementation of Polish policy towards the EU. For this reason the Kosciuszko Institute analyzes the suggestions of institutional and political changes within the EU from the Polish perspective.
The Institute analyzes and examines the functioning and effectiveness of the shaping of Polish policy towards the EU by preparing recommendations for improving the system of information exchange as well as the coordination of work and posts between public administration institutions at the central and regional levels (PL Government – PL Parliament – PL President – public institutions – regions), particularly important from the perspective of the first Polish presidency of the EU Council (2011). The Institute monitors and assesses the activity of Polish representatives in the EU, inter alia, through repetitive work on the Ranking of Polish Members of the European Parliament 2009.
